Events
Being a re-vamped site I suppose I should start with this years (2009) aims and events, (previous events and results/reports can be found on the results page), which hopefully will be injury free.
Next up....
.....Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon Relay....
......Durell Dash 13k.....
......{Mallorca International Masters Cycling Week}.....

Preparation:
Winter work is the key (as we all know!) so this is done in Jersey, on the roads and in the gym (Fort Regent). As the months 'tick by' a pre-season warm weather camp would be good (Majorca) with Cycling and maybe cross training (running only) being undertaken.

Cyclesportives are the main aim (again) providing my back 'problem' sorts itself out. Various venues/dates, with (I hope) a 'major aim'.
The above mentioned winter work is again on going (albeit spluttering alone).
Proposed events:
May - Training Camp (Majorca)
June - France/Italy (Lyon-Mt Blanc-Lyon / Marco Pantani)
October - Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon Relay/Durell Dash
2009
I mention running just as a cross training 'method', always a useful thing to do, as it can reduce the 'boredom factor', clears the mind! If cross training is done (running) then an aim should also be taken into account, this could be done with the Hash House Half in May. This has been 'binned' now, but with a view to completing in the November Half after all of the cycling has been done.
Now that would mean the cross training would have to start at the 'back end' of January. Not a great problem, but something 'extra' to do(?) - must beware of 'over training'.
So therefore before commiting to the running my mind must be disciplined, by that I mean Cycling is my main aim therefore the running must be taken 'easy'. If I am to run in the Hash Half then yes fitness must be there, but not at a 'risk' to the cycling.
The 3 times a week program (speed/tempo/long) will be used.
Moving on:
Racing really should be done, whether locally or european. This is another part of the preparation. Its all very well training hard and correctly but 'actual racing' has no substitute.
Cyclosportives would be nice, somewhere close, an 'in and out raid' reducing the costs if possible, maybe a back 2 back race weekend (sat/sun), short sharp distance(s) race(s).
But thats to be decided at a later date.
So to re-cap (as at 31.08.09) my aims are as follows:
World Police Fire Games(31.07.09>07.08.09)......DONE
Cyclosportives (TBD.09).......none this year :(
