Been off the radar for a couple of weeks, sorry, anyway nothing new. Ministers ignoring the public who voted them in !! Well what do you expect from a bunch of untouchables !! They say that they are accountable, but to whom??? Must certainly not us.

And the waterfront development is not going to cost the tax payer a penny (?) Any chance of that in writing, and then having the true facts as to who actually owns the waterfront! Well at least we are not paying £50,000pa to WEB - Opps oh yes we are, isn't that tax payers money?? You work mit out..roll on 2010 !! I can't wait!

Tuesday October 30, 2007 7:28:

Just a short memo to the punters who are against GST and the Minister involved, it reads -

'If you wish to argue against GST, please have the intelligence to come up with an alternative solution, and not just say no.

And to the Minister involved, don't look at other domains! Just your own books!!'

Sunday October 28, 2007 18:03:

Just something thats 'mirrored' on the DFS Bikers site, please take time out and read...ta

'Just some news on the local front regarding an incident that took place last month.

A local cyclist was rammed off his bike and seriously injured, the driver of the vehicle has allegedly no insurance, so the injured party has possibly got all the problems of going through the civil courts to recover any funds due to him.

The funds mentioned are vast! Its not just his bike and personal loss (body) but being self employed its loss of earnings, potential earning, and the fact that whilst recovering he is not allowed to undertake any form of exercise until the Official paperwork has been done. The reason? Well obvious really, because the oppostion's legal team would argue against any claims (which will take at least 4 years to get to court!) stating that any exercise (or work) might have contributed to any alleged injury (aggravated it!).

Now the main point of this 'diddy' is that the injured party is INSURED VIA THE BRITISH CYCLING FEDERATION (here) now they have been brilliant, and I mean brilliant. JPB has only the Silver membership, and the federation sent someone over, talked to JPB, paid any bills due (as of this date) set up the legal team (who are masters of these types of incidents!) and are now handling everything!

Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gentleman - the moral of the 'ditty' is get yourself's insured, for the amount it cost's look at what you are getting or in fact look at what would happen if you were not insured!!!'

British Cycling Federation

DO IT NOW !!!!

Friday October 26, 2007 18:27:

What's the problem??

You don't like whats on at the Opera House? (Puppetry of the Penis) WELL DON'T GO THEN, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!

And British Airways won't take Surf Boards (close to my heart now!) DON'T FLY WITH THEM!! THERE ARE OTHER AIRLINES!

British Airways Lost/Broke 2 of my bikes...hell they don't care! boycott them people!! stand up for yourselves!

Wednesday October 24, 2007 19:58:

After all the pre match excitement I suppose it was asking a lot for the 'brits' to take 2 titles. But never mind it was a great showing by all concerned.

Me? well my 2007 running days are over due to a calf injury, never mind back on the bike 1 month early.

Saturday October 13, 2007 22:32:

Stunning game - England v France - workman like, now for next weekend.

Jonny Wilko 2007 RWC

Friday October 12, 2007 19:51:

So it rumbles on. The drugs saga is getting a little out of hand me thinks- Read this bit from the Times - and Mr Conte is still operating (?) under a different company name now (?) I am now really confused (!!)

Oh ... here's his 'new' company - SNAC

Wednesday October 10, 2007 12:19:

So we have the 'Best Bus Terminal in Europe' (?). But we have nowhere for the employee's to rest/dine, pay £50,000 to somebody (would someone - Mr De Faye - like to explain who we paid £50k too?) to park our buses, also have no where to park our buses when they are not being used (?). I can now see why this is the best in Europe (!!!).

Tuesday October 9, 2007 9:26:

OK so the medals are back - here - but still just a 2 year ban, come on guys step up to the plate and introduce a LIFE BAN.

And here's an interesting person -

Drugs Baron

Any ideas? Yes the infamous Victor Conte. Interesting comments - here - regarding the testing procedures. You know I'd actually like to meet him and find out why he does what he does (Money no doubt). I could be surprised, but I don't think so.

I hope he's now helping the authorities to find the 'cheats' not continue to 'help' them. Its a bit like I.T. hackers, big companies employ these guys to protect their systems.

Monday October 8, 2007 10:56:

Couple of things to comment on today, firstly the Marion Jones saga, I'm afraid tears don't impress me, you need to go down girl!

Secondly, ran the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon race yesterday (7th), full report, but yet another great day had by all, superb weather, great course, good organisation. My time?...ah...slight problem at Corbiere (21mile mark)..3.43 final time (aim 3.30)...teachers report = must do better, but learn't a lot again (which is a must in all events!) (1 event left for '07 - Spartans Half Marathon 18th Nov)

Friday October 5, 2007 20:39:

Yet again the drugs saga re-appears. Not this time within the cycling ranks, but the Athletics arena.

Marion Jones is under the spotlight, in fact in court very soon for allegedly lieing about her part in 'doping' and her involvement with her 'ex' regarding money laundering. I'm sorry but I have no sympathy here, and it really doesn't help sport at all (which ever). Please somebody throw the book at her.

Tuesday October 2, 2007 22:37:

Going into the last week of the training for the Jersey Marathon has brought me some personal sadness, with the passing of a friend through illness. Martin Walbridge leaves 2 lovely daughters who also, tragically, lost their mother, Jan - Martins wife - 4 years ago through Cancer. Martin was a workaholic who made many friends during his lifetime and will be sorely missed by all. My run on Sunday will be dedicated to him and his children - Laura and Lisa.

Monday October 1, 2007 16:54:

Ok this might seem that I am 'Island bashing'...but just a quick question/point on our New Bus terminal...which I feel must be asked and answered.......

Cost = £1m (400K on computerization)...Ok....so....

Who owns the Hotel and offices on top of the 'best bus terminal in the world'? and have we just paid £1m for 20 parking spaces?

I seemed to miss that bit in the press briefing (?).

Wednesday September 26, 2007 19:32:

Just where is this Island going? All property, and I mean all property, is just 'cannon fodder'.

What will be have left in 20 years time? No character buildings just 'blocks of concrete'. Money and greed, that's all that's driving this Island. I make no apologies for making that statement, you can only go so high! And the higher you go, the bigger the drop! And that's going to hurt...big style!!

Oh and the wonderful new bus station, which I'm lead to believe is the 'envy' of a lot of countries, has buses reversing inside the terminal !?! Now how good is that!

Enjoy......

Tuesday September 25, 2007 15:56:

UUUmmm 'when the shoe fits' is a thought that springs to mind on this story - here - Now that isn't to say that I don't agree with the action of the LTA (I completely agree), but another sport (cricket) had the same problem (albeit older, apparently [?] wiser persons) and nothing really happened.

Now if one is to 'apply the rules' here (cricket is funded to) then surely the 2 persons involved should be 'warned' and banned to(?)....do we not agree?

Monday September 24, 2007 20:48:

Imagine my surprise on hearing this - here - just how much has the 'new' TDF 2006 winner lost in revenue?

As mentioned before, I don't really know the in's and out's of which body does what, but what I am sure about is:

'THAT THERE IS IN FIGHTING AND BODIES NOT TALKING TO EACH OTHER AND AN INABILITY TO WORK TOGETHER TO SOLVE THE DRUGS PROBLEM'

You cannot go around blaming other people or other countries and their Law's, you must get your own house in order first, and you must have evidence 'before going to court'

ALL SPORTS NEED TO WORK TOGETHER IF THEY ARE TO FIND A SOLUTION.

Cycling is not alone...........................

Wednesday September 19, 2007 22:26:

The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon on Sunday 07th October 2007 require some marshall's for their race. If you can assist them then please click the link below -

Remember races don't go ahead without the volunteer's, it doesn't matter whether its cycling/running/swimming or any sport, help matters.

Tuesday September 11, 2007 7:18:

Whilst I have stayed away from the local 'saga' regarding Child Protection within the Island and the potential 'fall out' from this issue, I would like to pose this question;

'How can you dismiss someone from a position without hearing their defence?'

Our political 'masters' didn't even attend a meeting (apart from 6) to hear his reasons why, and of course time to enable him to 'build ' his defence.

SHAME ON THEM!!! ..........................I SMELL A RAT.

Friday August 31, 2007 21:21:

As predicted Ian Thorpe (swimmer) has been cleared of any wrong doing - here - his brilliant still remians intact.

Friday August 24, 2007 8:32:

Well this weekend see's the start of the World Athletics Championships from Ozaka Japan. Now in the light of the Tour De France, and everyone saying that cycling is finished and is a bad example to sport due to the doping problems, an interesting comment from Ed Moses need's a 'coat of look' - here - and our friendly 'doctor' Victor Conte.

Anyway watch this space, it isn't just cycling is it!!

IAAF World Championships Here

It all 'kicks off' on the 25th August, click the image for the official site. I'm going to open up a section within my forum site for any 'unofficial' comments, have fun.

Thursday August 23, 2007 16:27:

Ok so where has the SUMMER GONE

Next week 17c ??

Sunday August 19, 2007 20:43:

Hi ho training camp time, well Tuesday actually, till 04th August. Had enough of our 'beautiful summer weather'

You know some 'clever' person from the Met office said we shall have an indian summer....well I'll be....and he gets paid for that? Its bloody July already!

Friday July 6, 2007 17:50:

Oh bloody hell..Dandara now control the Weather...according to our Environment Minister Mr Cohen...is there anything they don't control??...answers on a postcard please, addressed to God! just in case in feels pressured in any way!

Friday June 29, 2007 12:27:

Remember I mentioned 'Pet hates' a couple of days ago? well here's a beauty for you, and the reason I don't follow football any more.......a Mr Frank Lampard is stressing over a new contract between himself and his club - Chelsea FC - he has another 2 years to run on his present contract, and wants another one..WTF??...and he doesnt want to be 'stressed' on his holidays with the family...ah my heart bleeds for you..£100,000 a week and he's stressing...get into the real world will you !!!!!!!!!

Thursday June 28, 2007 18:21:

So just as an observation, Jersey is not a 'Tax Haven' (?)...its a bit of a shame that the recent Jersey Seniors Golf Tournament held @ La Moye and televised by Sky Sports on various channels 1/2/3.....which has a Worldwide audience.....stated that the golf tournament was being played in - and I quote - 'The Tax Haven of Jersey'

Doh!!! bit of an own goal then...????? ....maybe nobody was watching eh!

Sunday June 24, 2007 22:16:

Found new image toy............................

enjoy....................................

Wednesday June 20, 2007 22:32:

Well I've always said that this island will sink under the amount of concrete thats being used...now the governments going to sink the island all on their own! A bloody sunken road??? WTF? and building on Mount Bingham? Just where else can you build? God preserve us.

Wednesday June 20, 2007 8:27:

Do as I say not as I do?......whats that about? well the U21's football championships in Holland is on and the governing body - UEFA - are heavily into the racism - here and here - in which they state that they want to kick racism out of football and sport in general.

Now why am I harping on about this?.....well the last England game had a section of the crowd (allegedly) the opposing teams supporters were chanting racist comments towards an England player.

So UEFA in their capacity of the governing body and 'law makers' and preachers have decided not to take any action until after the event...HOW STUPID IS THAT?....whilst I fully understand that a process must take place, making sure that the 'correct' supporters are punished, and in fact the team aswell, surly this action or non action just makes a mockery of UEFA's Anti Racism policy?

OR IS IT JUST ME?

Tuesday June 19, 2007 14:48:

Couple of things -

One = pet hates, with the biggest pet hate being the internet companies that take your order, then take your money and then tell you that they don't have what you want in stock 'Maybe a couple of days Sir!' Mine you they don't tell you, you have to contact them to ask them where you order is!!!!!!

Next, the GST issue, great little article in the Jersey Consumer Council paper - click here to read

Wednesday June 13, 2007 21:48:

Big racing weekend - Le Mans 24hrs - Click on the image for a race link ....

Le Mans 2007

Well for once we seem to be doing something right. Re-cycling! yes we are spending some money at last, mind you its miles behind what we should be being spending.

That's unusual, somebody speaking out about the lack of housing in the Island! Oh yes he was a builder...well blow me over. Maybe if the States built the correct type of housing in the first place instead of a bundle of flats we might not be so 'badly off'.

Tuesday June 12, 2007 12:56:

Call me stupid if you will, but reference to the Euro U21 football that going on at the moment, and the decision the other day for the England players to take penalty's at the end of a friendly game so as to get them used to the competition seemed to be a bit daft, bearing in mind that there was absolutely no pressure during the friendly, and the first penalty kick they get during competition, goes wide !!!

UUUUUUUUUUuuummmmmmm ......I need time to think that one through........

Monday June 11, 2007 19:10:

Well back up to speed now, all bits and bob's done, so more ranting and raving to be done.

New forum site set up, link on left hand side panel. Other one was being invaded by 'outsiders' with 'naughty' sites, lets hope the security setup this time is Ok.

Well transfered my training to running from cycling for the moment with the aim being the Jersey Marathon - Oct 06th - now this is proving hard. On re-capping my last running 'action' was in fact last November (06), so I suppose the running should be hard, talk about starting at the lower level! The real training starts mid June - x3 per week - full training program and sessions will be published nearer the date.

Monday June 4, 2007 19:26:

My Cyclosportives race reports are up and running - here - will be adding more info facts/figures etc later. New Photo album inserted as well - here - that to will be updated and changed on a regular basis.

Sunday June 3, 2007 21:35:

Its not that I'm slack in making comments, its just that I'm flabagasted at the comments being made by certain people.

Holidaymakers will be happy paying 3% GST ???? An extra tax! How do you come to that conclusion?

Monday May 21, 2007 21:59:

Just back from French France and a couple of Sportives, brillant week-end, great racing and great company. Reports to follow.

On a sad note, The DFS Bikers would like to offer its thoughts to Norman Clayton's family after his passing on Friday 19th May 2007. His effort and enthusiasm within the CCC's was indeed second to none.

Thursday May 17, 2007 21:44:

Its funny how on reading a national newpaper regarding the subject of inflation, the Banks are going to raise interest rates in an effort to curb a rise in inflation.

Now I know what you are thinking, our Chief Minister blamed the Bank of England for raising Interest rates which pushed up our RPI.....So just who do you believe? I know who I believe!! Its never our fault..is it ministers.

And on another 'selling' note, just where are we going to house the present occupiers of Overdale and St Saviours Hospitals??

More crown jewels being sold off for the developers to make money! Just sell the Island why don't you!!

Saturday May 5, 2007 20:19:

So we get turned over again, there's a surprise, the old boys network goes into overtime. Well who can blame them, would you 'sack yourself'?

And then there's the GST issue, yes the poor get poorer and the rich richer. Finance get a chance to make a one off payment, then go and but anything they want..huh?..and Dandara get the go ahead to build on Marsh land....yeh but thats ok, the ministers put some conditions on it..60 don't you know!...that'll cure everything.

So the Island plan cannot be changed, not one bit of it, but didn't they change a little bit down in St Clements?...uuummmm...me needs to check on that, I hope I'm right.

Big bucks being paid back in rent rebates, people on £40K + getting help...so who's meant to be looking at that then, some £100k manager no doubt, and how long has this been going on?..

Saturday April 28, 2007 21:54:

So moving the polling day to a Sunday will cure all our problems? UUUmmmm try to come into the real world gentlemen.

Friday April 27, 2007 22:37:

Dictatorship doesn't work Ministers! You've just stated that the Harbour Works are to be 'privatised' and you wonder why they might be a little 'upset'. But nevermind you'll just pass a law that forbids them from striking. If only it was that easy to get rid of Ministers.....oh thats right we can't !!

Wednesday April 25, 2007 17:18:

Well it seem's an age since I posted last, so a bumper edition I feel is on the way.

Now where shall I start?......oh yes Dandara, going to sue are you? IF I WAS IN POLITICS THE WHOLE OF YOUR ORGANISATION WOULD BE OUT OF THE ISLAND!! THE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU HAVE MADE OUT OF THIS ISLAND IS STAGGERING AND YOU HAVE THE CHEEK TO THREATEN THE ISLAND!! The island is looking after its interests and suming up whether or not building on marsh land is correct. My own opinion is NO do not build on marsh land, you are only asking for trouble - the water has to go somewhere!

Now the usual 'saga' of a closed road, and the general public who seem unable to find another route to work/play. Its only a small island people! And to the lady who stated this morning on Ch 103 - 'I'm from St Peters and I am trying to get to Gorey and its 1 1/2 hours and I'm still not there....WHY ARE YOU GOING DOWN TOWARDS TOWN ANYWAY?....surely the easier route at any time is across the top of this beautiful island. Never mind someone has to moan I surpose.

Monday April 16, 2007 22:04:

Ok 'The ECO Tax' thing is sort of running forward.... see here ..so shouldn't the Minister 'driving' this forward lead by example?

Yes Mr Cohen, you!....what car do you drive?...A 4X4 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER...ONE OF THE BIGGEST CARS AROUND !!!!

What a wonderful example you set mate!

Tuesday April 10, 2007 17:18:

Well exactly one month away...its so nice to be back. Going to scribe a little diary on events down under.

Saturday March 10, 2007 23:17:

Just set up this - Personal Blog on World Police and Fire Games - think it'll work

Saturday March 10, 2007 18:01:

So just what is our Planning Minister saying? There is corruption within? There has been corruption within? Speak out please Mr Cohen, you will only have support from the real people of Jersey, that number is HIGH!

There's a surprise.... GST exemptions, certain school's? whats that all about? Good job our Ministers not on the board of directors....DOH!!.....corruption? what corruption?

Friday March 9, 2007 8:44:

Great comment on this Eco Tax...it read -

'So what happens then if everyone buys a completly Eco friendly car, therefore creating no extra revenue?'

Not that this will ever happen...but you have to ask the question...plus you have to say that by us making 'our changes' will it really make any difference? And just as a footnote I hope all our buses and lorries that run our roads will also be Eco Friendly!! I feel that this will not be the case, so that then raises the question on how much is this Eco tax actually going to cost the Tax Payer??

On a different subject - bike training - just taken a Power Test, results will be published on the Bike section of this site (training page)

Thursday March 8, 2007 8:41:

At last Jersey has woken up..............we will take the tourism market by storm!!! Why you ask?.....

We've build a Hotel with a SPA!!!! headline news on the JEP, a re-vamped Hotel with an extention....smack in the middle of the busiest pub and club area of town, being overlooked by other premises and having a SPA on the roof top....NICE!

Isn't it nice also to see our ex states members and ex states employee's making loads of dosh from the industry...bearing in mind that when they served the states they worked in the tourism area...nothing wrong there then!

Wednesday March 7, 2007 13:23:

Well thats Ok then...our Tax (GST) is the lowest in the world!!...SO? why do we need it??

Think we'll play a game a see what hasnt got taxed over the last few years...answers on a postcard please....

And as for the Eco Tax...just what is that supposed to do regarding the environment? Where does all the revenue gained go?...again answers on a postcard please.....

Monday March 5, 2007 14:30:

So when we have sold off all the Crown Jewels...What happens next?.....Are we totally in the black? Or is this just filling in a hole whilst certain people are in power? In other words leave a mess behind as they don't seek re-election.

Monday March 5, 2007 8:18:

Congrat's to UK Athletic's on a great performance in Birmingham over the week-end.

Thursday March 1, 2007 19:09:

Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Britain's most successful Paralympian, today announced her retirement from international competition.

Dame Tanni Grey-Tompson

Dame Tanni is Britain's best-known Paralympic athlete, having performed at world-class level in distances ranging from 100m to the marathon.

Her 15 Paralympic medals including 11 golds, six gold medals in the London Marathon and her comprehensive set of British and world records make her achievements second to none in the disability sport arena.

In 2000 she was decorated with the OBE in honour of her services to sport, which was followed by Damehood in 2004.

On behalf of the DFS Masters Club may I say thank you for the hours of enjoyment you have given the general public.

Her full history? - click here - amazing

Wednesday February 28, 2007 13:19:

Well now that was a winding riding day, F7 & 8, and I actually got a sincere apology from a Lady driver, who on nearly knocking me arse over tit, did stop flick down the window and say sorry. Well at least its a start.

Sunday February 25, 2007 13:52:

Well now it official..all our eggs are in one basket....60,000 tourist figures down, or if you want a Government view...only 5%

Oh and how nice of the man that brought us the Employment Law and its appeal's section (tribunual) leaves the States, gets sued for wrongful dismissal of one of his employee's, then appeals the decision (which went against him and for the employer) and wins the appeal because there is a loop hole in the law, which he had a hand in writing !!! How bad is that !?!

Wednesday February 21, 2007 12:58:

15,000 less tourists last year.....no surely not, the figures must be wrong, after all our Ministers and their departments say we are ON THE UP.....I really don't want to see the down!!!

And yes...yet another person to run the Waterfront...my my, why don't you just put a circus down there and you'll have the full house!!!

Saturday February 17, 2007 15:02:

Now thats an interesting 'twist' to the story of Ms Smith....

The 2001 will said Smith's long-term companion Howard Stern should hold her estate in trust for Daniel in the event of her death. Smith, the widow of Texas oil tycoon J Howard Marshall II, died last week.

"I have intentionally omitted to provide for my spouse and other heirs, including future spouses and children and other descendants now living and those hereafter born or adopted," Smith said in the will, under her real name of Vickie Lynn Marshall.

They'll be a few broken hearts there then. Hope they havn't spent to much money!!

Wednesday February 14, 2007 21:54:

Well I hope you all enjoyed this 'special day'...me?...oh yes, one card or should I say one bill....a big fat visa bill...

Oh and why is it just one day? Surely you should show your love all year round

Sunday February 11, 2007 21:07:

Interesting to read in the Mail on Saturday that one of the scribes suggest's that the honours earned by the England cricket team have now been earned down under ! So you can win 4 games out of how many? and this makes things OK?

Well its a good job we didn't lose the Ashes 5-0....doh!!

Saturday February 10, 2007 15:18:

And beware ...this is on the way...trust me...about 1st week of March..from NEW YORK

Ms Nicole Smith....told you so...........................

' Three men who claim to have fathered Anna Nicole Smith's five-month-old daughter are threatening legal action. Her partner and lawyer, Howard K Stern; ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead; and Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, say they may be the father.'

Friday February 9, 2007 15:36:

Anna Nicole Smith dies......blimey all that money, some lawyer's going to be laughing all the way to the bank!! Again it show's money's not everything guys.....

Wednesday February 7, 2007 21:17:

Oh well, done reading the letter - click here for full letter - good or bad? Well it depends on your viewpoint really. The contents are nothing new, we all know the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, you only have to look who's running the Island for that!

Will it have an effect? No I don't think so, after a couple of days it'll go away with the 'norm status quo' still in place. It might open a few eyes, but nothing will change, hell we the electorial public can't change anything....'How strange is that?'....we vote them in but can't vote them out.....nice

Personal point of view? I thought it was a stormer of a letter, I do so enjoy that tongue in cheek tone.

Tuesday February 6, 2007 20:04:

A true scandal is brewing within the States of Jersey, just reading the letter now.......oh how the truth hurts. Now I wonder how many of our Ministers lose their spines? After all they can't rock the boat can they !!

Anyway back to the letter.......later

Monday February 5, 2007 9:27:

Wilko's back, not just singling out Jonny, but he does make a difference. After a slightly indifferent start they did play rather well, in a way I feel sorry for the previous manager, he was 'robbed' of Jonny's services and others and then they come back, thats life I suppose.

Jonny @ his best

6 Nations Rugby 2007

Thursday February 1, 2007 16:15:

So let me get this right ' I can go and vote for any Constable in any parish (during election time)?'

Well according to St Peter Constable Tom de Feu I can !!?? I think he needs to restate his views correctly.

Sunday January 21, 2007 7:31:

Congrat's to Ricky Hatton on regaining his title...more later....you see points do win prizes

Thursday January 18, 2007 13:16:

Quick good luck message to the 'hitman' for Saturday nite...

Well I'll go to the foot of my stairs, Ministers do have a bit of common sense - although not all of them! looking at the vote - Article 44 still stands....

well done gentleman....and ladies...

Wednesday January 17, 2007 14:57:

3 cheers for the Ministers of the States of Jersey. An offer the workers cannot refuse - 2.4% backdated to 01.06.06 - with no hidden clauses.........

except for.......

Oh yes a MAXIMUM PAY RISE of 2.5% per year till 2010, but not guaranteed (in other words the States target of 2.5% met) AND the Ministers who are trying to get themselves more money by removing Article 44 (this of course after the States workers have signed away their life!)

Why don't we just come clean please Ministers....and lets have some accountability !!

Ah dictatorship..............................

Monday January 15, 2007 7:33:

You know they say the truth hurts, has Mr B Shenton hit a nerve with his statistical numbers?

Australian Tennis anyone? - click here - Melbourne Tennis Open, going to get warm down there........35>40c......ouch

Thursday January 11, 2007 17:32:

Mr Walker wants more pay for his Ministers? Well make them accountable and we shall see.

The population questions? My answers? Well there not really the 'full questions are they' so I'll add my 'bit' on the end.

1. Is Jersey Over Populated? Define over populated, over population really depends on whether the Island can take the numbers - Your infrastructure, housing/roads/traffic/public transport/schools and most important JOBS within the Island. At this present moment in time and not really knowing the direction of the States a true answer cannot be given.

2. Should the Population be capped? Again this is covered in question 1, can we cope at this moment in time?

3. If so, how should the numbers be controlled? Again another open question, at this present moment in time we have no way of knowing who is exactly on the Island or in fact who is coming to the Island. No doubt data Protection has something to do with this, but I'm affraid that we must be able to stop 'certain people' from entering our Island, hell not everyone's sqeeqy clean, but some of us have more in the cosset that others...if you know what I mean. And so the answer is YES we are our own Government so we should be able to say who can and who cannot enter and live on the Island...its not rocket science.

Wednesday January 10, 2007 19:55:

Highway Code and Road Traffic Law on right hand side

Saturday January 6, 2007 7:34:

Oh dear as mentioned before, answer required, read on please -

A Jersey backbench politician has hit out at the Housing minister for encouraging UK property speculators.

Deputy Judy Martin of St Helier says Senator Terry Le Main has little concern for islanders struggling to find accommodation.

She believes non qualified people are pushing up rents and putting a burden on tax payers. Deputy Martin said: "I am very shocked, I am absolutely surprised that the minister of housing is saying he is not bothered who buys our property, because he can control who lives in it. He can't control what the UK or other international buyers charge as rent and a lot of this is paid by rent rebate, private rent rebate, by the tax payer of Jersey."

"There is 235 Spectrum one and two bedroom places and I want to know how many were sold to a UK developer prior or after the were built and what percentage are in the possession of local people," she added.

Yet again our esteme political members are forgetting the youth and the lower end of the scale.....bring on more finance companies!! Lets throw more eggs into the ONE basket!

Friday January 5, 2007 8:41:

So the shambles is over - The Ashes - I don't really think there are any 'real' words to decribe the series...although I do have a few choice ones (so choice I can't use them on my own site!).

I'm fedup with various people stating that England were out played in all of the tests, and that the team were not at fault! Only one person (to my knowledge) has slammed the players, good for you Mr H.

I wonder if they will return the MBE's and OBE's in recognition of the embarrassment? Me thinks not, return them and re-earn them.

MBE's & OBE's - return them

And again this reopens the hunger story, doesn't matter about the result you'll still be paid! Performance related pay...OH YES THE WAY TO GO!!

In brief, I'm a full supporter of lottery funding - hell its been going on for ages around the world, where we have been missing out - the rules of the game are strict but are they strict enough? By that I mean you have to compete in various events (depending on your sport) local/national/world stage, to a set level - the higher the better - to have your funding continued, but what happens in the case of failure and embarrassment? (The Ashes) Yes everyone can and will have a bad day at the office, but on such an important event like the Ashes and for the full series? I might understand 2 bad test matches but 5!!!!!- accountability?? any? - compete...win..and then get paid!....hard harsh but true (my opinion).

As a footnote its pointless interviewing the players and management of Team England...hell would you shoot yourself in the foot???? Hardly !!

Oh wonder is we'll see Mr F staggering out of a hotel bar this time? what a great example to set, bet he feels a prat now!

Thursday January 4, 2007 18:02:

More Taxes and Properties to sell by the 'dozen'....anything wrong with this picture?

Wednesday January 3, 2007 8:53:

Good luck Mr Power, Jersey has let or should I say will let any Romanians and Bulgarians into the Island (now they are in the EU, which we are - NOT FULL MEMBERS ???? allegedly ) Whilst our Island Cousin (GSY) have has introduced immigration rules to maintain control of the employment of Bulgarian and Romanian nationals until 2011.

Yea I hear you say....but we have Housing Controls!...uuuummmm those are? ....more Mafioso.....

Tuesday January 2, 2007 13:29:

New Year....New Campaign.....what I hear you ask?....Lets brighten up our Race day's...CHEERLEADERS !!...well its works in American Football, check out the Images page to see what I mean..

Can you image some faces??

Oh and the States campaign, time to go cold turkey people!!

Sunday December 31, 2006 15:06:

Welcome news from our Police Chief - A clamp down on the drugs dealers within the Island . But on a footnote our esteem Political Leaders have stated that we don't have a Drugs problem....I know who I believe!!

Anyway have a Happy New Year whatever you are doing tonight

Happy New Year

Oh and just to end the year on a 'happy note', a message to the 'old bat' who was driving down from Sion this morning (1220'ish) please read your Highway Code and Road Traffic Law regarding cyclist riding in pairs....................yes it is allowed, I hope you don't drive like that with children around

Thursday December 28, 2006 14:34:

Another good call, if Constables want to stand in the States stand up and be counted in the elections

"Politicians are accused of 'amazing complacency " - according to the Chairman (should be chairperson) of the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee.

Well I'll go to the foot of my stairs, I'd never have guessed that one

Wednesday December 27, 2006 17:20:

Well well, The Islanders of Jersey have no Pride !!...according to our Chief Minister, well there's a slap in the face!

It's all to do with negativity within the Island towards the political issues at the moment. So really Mr Walker you have only yourself to blame! Let me explain -

you 'voted' yourself into your present position,

you have an Open Governent policy that isn't open at all,

your pushing the Island down a one way street,

you are failing to tell the people of Jersey what's happening,

your introducing more and more Tax's without full public consultation,

...I could go on....and you wonder why people are slightly negative!!

DON'T YOU EVER SAY ISLANDERS HAVE NO PRIDE, YOU NEED TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR WALKER...do us all a favour and resign! Why resign? Oh yes we can't get rid of you can we! Ah open government.....

Monday December 25, 2006 12:45;

Merry Christmas one and all Only the few hardy souls out this a.m. then?

Sunday December 24, 2006 15:02:

2 things to speak/text about -

Lets clamp down on underage drinking said the Magistrate, about time too if you ask me, but don't ask the politicians to do anything about it!

On potentially the busiest day of the year - crimbo eve - the jewel in the town crown remains closed. The jewel being the Town Market. Why Are we yet again stuck in a time warp, not being able to sell certain things on a Sunday

Monday December 18, 2006 8:12:

Well I think regular readers will know whats coming now. The Ashes, below is a personal comment, some might think harsh, but HEY I live in the real world.

But first ..... Well done Australia, they showed true professionalism by fighting hard for the Ashes. It hurt to lose in England, but they got their heads into gear and did the business on and off the pitch

"97 days of holding on to the ashes, the shortest time ever. 97 days of going on the p**s and boasting about winning the Ashes, off to Buck Palace to pick up some medals - going to give those back now !! - going to go off and celebrate like last time? Stumbling out of a hotel foyer, what a great example of a professional sportsman that was, a wonderful example to set for our youth! - 'Well my Lord I saw the england cricket team getting drunk, so I did the same' (said the kid up in front of the bench) - You only deserve a pat on the back when you RETAIN a trophy at this level." The end.....

Its raining outside............................

Friday December 15, 2006 8:35:

Yet again the Ministers show their lack of understanding within the 'real world'. Underage drinking? Er yes you have been told for the last few years about the Pomme D'or area of town, bury your head in the sand why don't you!

For goodness sake remember the people at the lower end of the scale and the youth of tomorrow

And blame the media? UUmmmm I know lets not report anything, then nothings wrong! After all if the media are reporting wrong then surely the offended can take action?

Yet another example of Open Government...NOT!!!

Wednesday December 13, 2006 20:58:

Well blow me down, the Ministers have donated £33.00 to charity for leaving their mobile phones left on during a States siting. Their generosity leaves me speechless!!

Monday December 11, 2006 8:34:

So now they announce possible changes to the 'makeup' of the States. The Privileges and Procedures Committee say that it would be wrong to remove Constables from siting on the States. This is so wrong! How can somebody who only gets voted into that 'position' by a single parish be allowed to stand up and make Island wide decisions?

May I remind you of the 'makeup' of the Isle of Man - here - Ben Shenton is correct'ish on his thoughts, he has to be more positive, go get the full facts from the Isle of Man!!

The 3 options are listed below:

States of Jersey

'Parish Constables will retain their automatic right to a seat in government under a set of new options for reforming the composition and election of the States.

In all four options the Constables will remain in the House. The Privileges and Procedures Committee say public and political suppport for the Constables means it would not be worthwhile looking at options which would remove the Constables' automatic right to sit in the Assembly.

The first option is to elect 30 members island-wide, plus the Constables, on a single general election day for a term of four years.

Option Two suggests electing 30 members from a small number of large constituencies, plus the Constables.

Option Three is to retain the existing membership, but to elect them all on the same day every four years.

The final option is to keep things as they are with some minor tweaks - like electing all the Constables on the same day and getting a more even spread of deputies across the island.

The committee intends to consult widely on the options put forward and may hold another survey of public opinion before any States debate. The final word will be left to the public in a referendum.'

Saturday December 9, 2006 15:08:

Nicole Cooke

Ok folks get your voting head on - Nicole Cooke for Sports Personality of the Year for 2006 - her achievments for the year are second to none

On another theme, just what is going on down Broad Street? There's more crossing than road !! I'm all for safety but blimey.

Tuesday December 5, 2006 21:07:

Well I'm not sure what that was, but I think they deserve another set of medals....'The M.A.L'....'Most Amazing Lose' ...just how bad was that?

Sunday December 3, 2006 19:23:

Their still doing it ...........

Saturday December 2, 2006 22:18:

I'm not going to write about it...(ashes)..don't want to jinks it.

Wednesday November 29, 2006 15:34:

As reported in the breaking news the Doh! ='s

In we go

Out you go = 0

Please please prove me wrong.....

English sport as a whole is in a bit of trouble -

'Does it all stem from Lottery funding?' - by that I mean yes we should have lottery funding but are we losing our passion to WIN things? Now thats a topic which could a while to discuss.

Tuesday November 28, 2006 22:08:

Here's one for you.....

A Sunday Law......

Can Buy -

Both killers in thier own right.....

But can't buy -

Sorry can't send you flowers if you survive the first 2 items !! Wake up Jersey, sort your silly Laws out! Free trade, buy and sell anything at anytime.

Monday November 27, 2006 22:06:

'nough said really, English sport needs a pick me up ....

Saturday November 25, 2006 15:56:

Not a good day for english rugby. They started well then just faded fast. A good point was made post match 'Its all very well having muscle bound players on the pitch, but you must have players on the pitch, tacticianers with a rugby brain'...how true.

Well part of the answer to the Airport saga, Lanyen and Norman (there's a surprise!), one retired one still serving? accountability?

Friday November 24, 2006 12:43:

Cricket? Cricket? Well their really worth the MBE/CBE whatever they got for winning the Ashes..aren't they...NOT!!

Wednesday November 22, 2006 13:16:

What the hell was that this morning at the Airport!!! The beauty of privatization bits you on the backside. G4S Aviation Services have done themselves no favors, their dispute is with their employers NOT the general public. Several questions spring to mind:

1. Who is G4S Aviation Services?

2. When was the security of the Airport privatized?

3. Who wrote the contract that allows them to hold the Airport and the general public to ransom?

4. Does the Law that states 'No Third party shall help/assist in a dispute' not apply here? The third party being the Airport itself, thats if the States of Jersey own the Airport!!

'All ministers are accountable' according to the Chief Minister, this should be interesting then!!

Tuesday November 21, 2006 14:15:

A sad but understandable day for swimming, the 'Thorpedo' - Ian Thorpe - has announced his retirement from the sport. A great swimmer and ambassador for swimming. His retirement will leave a void and he will be sorely missed.

Monday November 20, 2006 21:56:

Congrat's to Andy Priaulx on retaining his World Touring Car Championship in Macau.

Saturday November 18, 2006 17:14:

Just a thought....who does own property in town? And why do they keep putting up the rent? Hope its not the States of Jersey...doh!!....

Well done England, its better but work is still needed....

Wednesday November 15, 2006 19:35:

Cycling news, well done Team CSC

" This week, Team CSC and Department Z at Bispebjerg Hospital in Denmark launch their joint anti-doping program.

The project will be the most comprehensive test system in professional cycling today with close to 800 tests being collected from Team CSC riders starting December this year throughout ..."

Full story......here

Home front? Our building's look like some in the UK? Well I'll go to the foot of my stairs! Only difference? Bloody expensive over here!! The time bomb is ticking.......................

Monday November 6, 2006 15:25:

So who read the Mail on Sunday - Financial Mail Isle of Man Special Report?

Makes for interesting reading, 10% income Tax, Personal allowance of £20,000, Pop 78,000.....

Ministers? =

1 Chief Minister and 9 Ministers.......well that nearly the same as us..NOT!!....you want a saving, I make that 40'ish members down the road @ 35,000 each head = £1,575,000....those are my kind of figures!

Friday November 3, 2006 19:38:

Going on from the 'breaking news story' when did we actually vote our Ministers into Office, their present positions that is.

Wednesday November 1, 2006 14:34:

Afternoon, well blow me down - 'THE WATERFRONT IS A MESS' - well at least the people involved in the original planning are no longer there....DOH!!!.... well at least they don't hold any 'big' positions....DOH!!!...on the bright side they did apologise, thats makes it alright then....DOH!!!....

Friday October 20, 2006 15:27:

On a local point, Income tax! why then Mr Campbell, did you send out the forms of 'confusion'??? it made no sense whatsoever, and WTF? save the First Tower Inn as a building of local interest? What about the Girls College??? a listed building, now de-listed so that someone can make a packet on it. Yet again makes no sense.

Wednesday October 18, 2006 20:48:

Installed a new Forum section onto the site - left hand side is the link - feel free to join and use, don't abuse though...I have the power to exclude!

'True and Open Government' nothing hidden from the Islanders, or so we were told. So what happen's? We'll have a meeting on how to talk to the islanders behind closed doors!! How sad is that!

'The cost of living is completely out our hands' .....uummm I don't think so, funny how only 2 things are listed, Interest Rates and Oil, is that the only 2 things that make up the cost of living? Nop!

Monday October 16, 2006 8:56:

Pakistan Duo fail drug's test, funny didn't think you were allowed to hold independent testing, I believe Chelsea FC were fined for doing exactly the same thing.

Sunday October 15, 2006 21:44:

The Drugs issue, still doing some digging - I'm here so far. And I believe this is the Online section - here - so the thing is that you can alter your whereabouts electronically, just how simple does it get? I'm also not sure about the findings, which stated that Tim D was not completly at fault for his failings. Something just doesn't add up.

The Online bit as mentioned before seems to be the area to update amend personal information, there's also an information sheet - here - or advice sheet, the plot thickens....

Saturday October 14, 2006 8:28:

Forcing people to wear Seat Belts on buses? Hard to enforce? Yes, but just provide them, if the punters wish to wear them then they will. Also you are covering your 'backside' if they are provided and a 'serious' incident occurs. Not hard really.

If you are going to purchase the Plemont Land for the general public, then put something up there that the general public can ALL USE!!!! A golf course is not something we can all use!

Plant trees, create walkways, you have a self made viewing platform - the coast line! - check out this link Go Ape, how cool would this setup be in Jersey.

Out cycling this morning, what on earth was going on in St Clements, loads of people walking about with brief cases ??

UUUmmmm....yet another Athlete fail's to keep 3 appointments, what is going on? 3 months and no more Olympic's...you'd think with the banning from the Olympic's people would take more care!

Its all online and you can just update if you know something's wrong? I just don't understand how mistakes are made....me going to find out more ....

Friday October 13, 2006 20:42:

Well better late than never, our Police Force have now put their backing into the 'Hands Free Campaign'

And just what are those flags on the Avenue??

Wednesday October 11, 2006 21:31:

Marathon race report up, if you can call it a report. Other stuff? Plemont saved by the States, but @ what cost? I'm not against it, in fact heavily for it....it should never have been allowed to happen in the first place!

Hands Free systems, 2 comments:

1. Why don't the phone companies supply systems for free when selling the phones in the first place? and,

2. Fines? No just take the vehicle away from the offender for 48 hours first offence, then just keep doubling it for further offences, that'll make you think twice. Imagine trying to explain to the boss where the works vehicle is!

Monday October 9, 2006 19:48:

Well there goes the weekend. Let me see, made a mess of the Marathon...which was a great success in fact a brilliant event which will only get bigger (report later)....then read the JEP which had a great section (albeit small) on next weekends Jersey Rally, which read:

'Next week see's the Jersey rally hit the roads, starting on Friday p.m. and finishing Sunday p.m. with the letters of complaint being published in Monday's edition of the JEP'

Wonderful, but possibly true. Jersey Marathon pic below.....

Just before the Oops Bugger !!! You'd think I'd know better!

Saturday October 7, 2006 13:59:

New bus route starts...No10...at last a good idea and one that should be used. At least it should help the pub's out of town.

Friday October 6, 2006 19:26:

With thoughts now moving towards the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon - 08th October - (me injured!! doubtful starter) - the training plans page has some Marathon Training Plans for various abilities, give it a coat of look sometime.

Well done Mr Le Saux...never a truer word said....hidden agenda's?.. here in Jersey?... surely not

Monday October 2, 2006 21:23:

Well said Mr Green regarding our airport, another good states example. I surpose the next move will be to remove Mr Green..any odds people?

Bored with the where u r now setup. 2 weeks nothing missed, not even hard, or do I just have a boring live style? The former me thinks.

But hang on.....weren't we told now so long ago that our Hotels were full and the %'s were on the up? Me thinks it equal's the line's below:

Stat's = 100 hotels / 50 full = 50%

Stat's = 50 hotels / 25 full = 50%

You know the next stat!

Can you work it out? I can

Wednesday September 27, 2006 21:58:

Fancy some Ryder Cup One Liners? Here

Monday September 25, 2006 9:26:

The weekends gone...boy what a couple of days, sport wise. Great scenes at the Ryder Cup, impossible for words..images...

Say no more....Darren Clarke..'nough said.

Home front, ran 10k on Sunday - report on results page - 42.45, next the Marathon..doh!! Still going strong on that informing people where I am during the week 6/6 so far.

Oh went running friday morning, 18k, boy have you ever tried to find a field without somebodys window overlooking it? Nearly a nasty mistake (dropping the kids off in a field is tricky)(green leafs lovely).

Thursday September 21, 2006 21:26:

There's absolutely nothing wrong with our immigration, we know exactly who's in our Island......UUUmmmmmmm......NOT!! ...Wake up Jersey its not to late. Oh and on that comment, how come people can come over here and work and we can't go and work in their country. We have no power to stop them? and there was I thinking we were our own government......what a silly boy!!!

Wednesday September 20, 2006 12:32:

Funny how the Queens Road has 'Been finished two weeks in advance' according to the signage, and whats happening on Queens Rd today? Oh roadworks...UUUummmm...your call really.

New record for a Life sentence yesterday -

LIFE = 4 YEARS 4 MONTHS.......WHAT?????

What does that make a marriage then?

Monday September 18, 2006 14:50:

Right then lets try this 'reporting' bit. Now I won't be using my work time as this would be a little too easy, I think thats the only 'rule' I need to abiet by, so here goes,

Tuesday 18.9 @ Home 1300hrs Yes
Wednesday 19.9 @ Les Quennvais SC 1030hrs Yes
Thursday 20.9 @ Royal Jersey GC 1230hrs ** Yes
Friday 21.09 @ Les Ormes 1200hrs Yes
Saturday 22.09 @ Royal Jersey GC 0900hrs Yes
Sunday 23.09 @ Gorey Common 1000hrs Yes
Monday 24.09 @ Les Quennvais SC 1100hrs Yes

Right there's the 'list'.........slightly easier for me, granted, but we shall see.

** = change before time/date (24hrs notice)

And just on another topic, please don't forget about the Spartans Half Marathon on Sunday 19th November 2006, even if you are doing the Jersey Marathon, the Half would be a great recovery run.

Sunday September 17, 2006 18:44:

So Christine Ohuruogu, the lady of the athletics saga will appeal again her ban. Ok, she found it difficult to tell the right people where she was going to be at a certain time . Now as I understand it all you have to do is inform the right people of where you are for 1hr per day 5 days a week (not 7 just 5).

How about playing a game? Lets just try that and see what happens, any one up for it? I might just start it tomorrow. Bearing in mind I have work/training/social life (that bit won't take up much time!!!) to take into account, where as Ms Ohuruogu should just have training/sleeping/eating, to take in to consideration, and most probably have a Manager to do all this for her anyway (the time and date bit that is).

So I shall print on this page where I'm going to be for the forthcoming week, seeing how many times I 'hit' the correct time by filling the gaps at the end of that week (as honest as I can be).

Sunday September 17, 2006 7:33:

Big 'up' for golf commentator Peter Alliss on being asked about Tiger Woods and his lose in the World Match Play event before the Ryder Cup next week.

'With Tiger losing the papers are saying the the Ryder Cup is heading to European's hands'

Peter replied,

'Well I wouldn't believe everything you read in the papers, it'll be close....Anyway they do have to sell papers you know, and sometimes what they write is true!!'

Excellent Peter, take a bow.

Friday September 15, 2006 15:45:

Ironman Canada Diary published - here

Working on images....later

Horse doping in Jersey? Oh please let the guilty party be a world class competitor. If not then please seek professional help, as you need it! There be trouble in them there fields.

Thursday September 14, 2006 11:00:

Noticed on Queens Rd, sign saying finished road repairs 2 weeks early - Oops, never write that, it'll come back and bite you on the bum!! Any odds on how long?

Wednesday September 13, 2006 19:42:

Update on IMC here, still writing diary, never easy.

Monday September 11, 2006 22:48:

Back in the real world...bugger....never mind, had a great time, more later, pic's and words.

There's a clue to the R&R bit............

On a footnote...Congrats Ms Jones, I'm so glad it was negative.

Tuesday August 22, 2006 8:46:

Morning all, couple of things to make a note of. The first being an interesting quote from my 'friend' Mr D Chambers with stated that 'It was a shame that the sport of athletics was undergoing a drugs sweep, and that so many 'Top Stars' were being caught'... so does that mean the 'top stars' should be exempt for testing and be drugged up all of the time?????....you make your mind up, Oh and Ms Jones, you silly girl....

Right back to the important issue - for me that is - IMC 06, the assessment is here, I might have missed some points but I feel the majority is there. On the Ironman page - here - is a link to the Live update and video streeming of the event, also some approximate times (touch wood) of my arrival at transitions. The times are local Canadian time and Local UK time, check it out.

Anyway thats me for a couple of weeks.....hopefully back 11th September......the result....ttfn....bib No. 1314

Thursday August 17, 2006 15:31:

As a footnote D.C. = Mr Chambers not Mr Campbell, in fact good for him, stand up and be counted...Chambers Cheated...should have been life!!!- my opinion.

Anyway been a busy @ work for some strange reason, just just for the moment have these to tickly your fancy:

Oh dear......not good

Just checking.......

Assessment's done....................

Sunday August 13, 2006 15:16:

Just checking the date.................yep 13.08.06.....thought it might be April Fool's Day....£25m to sink a road so that you can build over it?????? WTF?

I like the branding issue as well.....£170,000 and counting, well worth the money.....I'd love to have a break down of how they come to that figure, that'll make good reading me thinks!!

And NO!! STILL NOT A FAN OF MR D.C....even if the team did win the Gold medal....you can spot him, he's the only one without a smile on his face.

Wednesday August 9, 2006 16:29:

Here's one for the 'think tank'...............'Why don't the states fund and provide re-cycling bins for everyone, including the correct type of collection trucks, getting everyone into the mood of re-cycling, and then built the correct type of re-cycling plant at La Collette?'

Just a thought................................ttfn

Tuesday August 8, 2006 22:03:

Going to take up the mobile whilst driving issue...AGAIN...use this link please - Don't use Mobile Phones when driving - Need to change the law? Simple, no need to fine just impound the vehicle for 48hrs (1st offence) increased by extra 48hrs each subsequent offence. Simple really. The impounding should also be extended to other motoring offences......now get home......and to work!

Tuesday August 8, 2006 7:28:

European Athletics is the topic....not that I'm a fan, but Steve Cram does have a point

1. Yet again drugs related person returns to the sport, Mr L Christie, and........

2. He's been brought into the system to build the 'bonding process, etc'.......but he's banned from the Olympic's...How the hell is that going to help ??????

And finally yet another failure in the drugs system, a highly paid athlete - funding via the lottery - can't make any of the required out of season testing's - 'It's to tricky to find the time, due to a difficult rule'......what a load of C**P.......my answer?...goodbye instant removal from funding and a life ban......ta ta.

Some people out there try their hardest to get backing and fail, then there are others who abuse the system!!!

Abuse it no more, use the door!!!!!

Sunday August 6, 2006 20:23:

Just finished watching the european swimming champ's last day, the Brit's have performed out of this world....I hope all the knockers of Bill Sweetham are prepared to stand up and be counted now ???

Also Ms Manaudou, not enough words to discribe really, just awesume.........

Laure Manaudou

Friday August 4, 2006 14:25:

Ok catch up time on the news front....locally and nationally.....headings? European Swimming, British Athletics, Local Building and Cycling..if your not interested TTFN........

European Swimming.....take note any of you who are 'up and coming' or think you are......Laure Manaudou of France (hot totty) multi medal winner, gets the work done 1st before talking to the press, she still hasn't spoken to the media....hotel>pool>qualify for finals>hotel>food>sleep>pool>win medal>hotel>food>sleep. Notice the difference? British way in other sports = talk a good race to the media b4 the race, fail totally in the race, blame the conditions or in fact the media for blowing up their chances b4 the race!!!!!!

Lesson 1 = Do the business first, then talk a good race!!!!!

Local Building's, the Goose Green march site, well done to the guy in charge for turning down the application for 120+ houses on the site, but anyone see the bit that said '90 houses can be built on the site'.......uuummmmm, big trouble ahead me thinks, buy some wellies please.

British Athletics? Nice the see the drugs cheat representing the nation again, what a lovely advert for the sport!!!!!! Are we that bad that we can't find someone else to take? Boy this bodes well for the 2012 games.

Cycling, well the 'B' sample is due tomorrow from Mr Landis, I really hope its Ok, only an American can read a written statement to the press and not have a clue what he's reading !!!!!!! Why not just say ' I DID NOT TAKE ANY DRUGS OR SUBSTANCES TO IMPROVE MY PERFORMANCE', how easy is that to say? easy if you didn't I suppose.

On the personal front? still having a bit of a bad time, hopefully this is the 'down time'......must make a decision on training amounts, sounds daft, but it might not just be 'over training' 'over tired' or 'boredom'......ah the beauty of training diary's and planners.......oh and lager!!.......me going to look @ all aspects over the next 48hrs......ttfn

Tuesday August 1, 2006 15:15:

What's the point of doing an assessment now? I've still got 2 weeks of training to do......doh!!!

Wednesday July 26, 2006 18:59:

Well I'm still here and working on the assessment, been a bit busy in other areas plus also having a 'bad patch', but that's to be expected, just so long as it doesn't last too long... ...

30 days and counting...................

Wednesday July 12, 2006 21:41:

Swim done, report on results/reports page......interesting me thinks. Assessment on swim later, along with the other assessments.

Tuesday July 11, 2006 15:34:

Update on football saga, Now if its true that something was said and it was found to be Racist then only one outcome can be had, that being - Italian footballer banned for life, Italy kicked out of the World Cup - if you don't do this there is no point in continuing with your motto - Keep Racism out of Football - I stress that this can only be done if it is found to be true, FIFA get a spine and act!

That's the last bit of footy comment for now, or until the truth out's.

Monday July 10, 2006 20:44:

Finally its over...the World Cup that is, now that was some finish, best headbutt I've seen for a while. It'll be a big test for the authorities if and only if it was a racist remark, my betting slip has not been torn up yet! FIFA has a motto = Keep Racism out of Football - the ball is in their court.

TDF? Now this is turning into a good event, a real open contest, T-Mobile look a good bet for the team prize, bet Jan U kicking himself now!! Individual? the mountain's will sort them out, boy it going to be a good week.

Me? Assessment swim tomorrow nite 16.5 sea temp, good test......laters.......

Wednesday July 5, 2006 13:44:

Opp's made a mistake on the Green Island Swim date, although its better for me, its now Tuesday July 11th @ 1900hrs. Which now gives me an assessment swim , which in turn means that I will have had an assessment on all of my disciplines before IMC. A review of those will be typed later.

On the news front........disbanding W.E.B.? I think this comes under the heading of 'After the horse has bolted' !! never mind.

Allex le Bleu!!!!!

Sunday July 2, 2006 19:19:

Cracking Coverage page for the TDF 2006 - click here

Saturday July 1, 2006 11:53:

What with all the going's on before the Tour starts, here's a link to Jan U training hard - click here

And at last somebody has actually spoken out to say that if your caught your out for LIFE! None of this 2 years and your back, well done!

Thursday June 29, 2006 22:39:

Well thats not bad, only 24hrs and the price of the incinerator goes up by £20m , and this is all being arranged without even doing the correct background checks and research into recycling!! Another truely wonderful States decision.

Thursday June 29, 2006 7:20:

Morning, not to much to type so we'll start with the good bit, which is.......testing a link to my training program, in other words my day to day training records, its on the training page or click here, only time will tell if this works (its also on the Training Camp page on the DFS Bikers site).

On the local news front, £60m for an incinerator.......and the final price will be? Answers on a postcard please. Oh and how much of this 'new' equipment will be recyclable friendly? What an opportunity to build something for the future!

Couple of things for updating, the Standard Chartered Marathon web site is up and running - click here for link - please support this event, its going to be a good day.

Biked the 25m TT yesterday - 1hr 03min 10sec - good considering no speed work being done, next assessment July 2nd 50m TT.

And finally.......at last they are going to re-surface Queens Rd up to the Union Inn, you see, miracles do occur, first time in 20years so they say, you'd never have guessed it !!!

Saturday June 17, 2006 20:21:

At last !! Reading the local paper - Jersey Evening Post - an article concerning a property in St Clements finally says its a disgrace that the building was allowed - 6 feet higher than the original plans!! - and the planners/owners should be brought to task. In this time and age and present climate of minister bashing, surely somebody has to answer the question's.

Just watching the USA/Italy game, nice and friendly only one elbow in the face, straight red card for the Italians and he protested his innocence, me thinks it was the blood that gave it away!

Friday June 16, 2006 22:01:

Monday June 12, 2006 21:55:

Well finally getting to update this page and site, note the different look (still got more work to do) Anyway ran the 10k on friday, boy that was hot - 42min 57sec, 15th place - for a race report please click on the results page.

Soapbox time........Is it just me or has Dwain Chambers taken everyone for a ride?? He knowingly took drugs, cheated, got banned and is now running again!!! What sort of message does that send out to our kids? ...........................

'Off you go son, take drugs or performance enhancing drugs, doesn't matter if you get caught you'll be running again in 2 years, if you don't get caught you might become World Champion!' .......

Brilliant isn't it? That should have brought a lifetime ban!!

Friday June 9, 2006 17:23:

And were off, 1700hrs exactly the 1st kick of the 2006 World Cup. 6 minutes later the 1st goal to mine host's Germany. On the home front still working on the DFS Bikers site, early draft now available here, if you haven't already found it.

Portuguese 10k race to nite @ West Park, going to be loverly and warm me thinks....loads of hydration needed - before and after.

For those not interested in the footy, the Isle of Wright music Festival has started today, not sure if its on the box, why not take a trip there, nice weather. Back later with race report................. Temp = 27c @1830hrs.

Sunday June 4, 2006 22:28:

Well being a sports related web site and also being a fair minded person, I feel its my duty to offer up an 'alternative thing to do' during the next few weeks. If, unlike me, you live in Mars and don't know what I'm on about, its world cup time, so here's a list of other things to do:

First Week 9th - 16th June 2006

June 9th - The Nokia Isle of Wright Festival

June 10th - The World Naked Bike Ride (true) www.world-nakedbikeride.org/uk

June 11th - The Motor Racing British Grand Prix

June 12th - Spitalfields in East London (annual festival of ancient and modern music)

June 13th - Back in Brazil album launch party @ Cargo in Shoreditch

June 14th - Polish Summer Festival in Jersey (oh yes here!)

June 15th - See Corlolanus @ the Globe

June 16th - London's Chelsea Festival (not football club!)

More next week...........................

Saturday June 3, 2006 21:26:

At last, I thought it was just me, but finally somebody else agrees with me (or at least makes the same observations). The subject? Tennis. The further subject? Andrew (Andy) Murray. Now I've been harping on about his fitness or in fact lack of fitness and nobody has said anything against it. The press has done its normal bang up job, namely build him up to be the next wimbledon champ - without actually winning anything else!!! - and then knock him down. He's 19 and unable to stay 5 sets, AT 19 !!!!! hell he should be able to play 5 sets every match at that age. So at last during his defeat at Paris this week, a post match review by studio 'experts' ,(I hate some so called experts, don't get me wrong I have a lot of tme for a lot of them, but some of them are just 'hangers on'), finally suggested his match fitness was not of the standard required to succeed. Well blow me down.

Personally? on the tennis front just finished watching Nadal play his match, now that's one fit boy and shot maker...you watching Mr Murray.

On another subject, nearly finished the DFS Bikers site, patience people patience..........

Monday May 29, 2006 15:30:

Now where are we? Ah yes.....tested the 'new polar unit', very good, mind you I did say that about the last one..DOH!..but I'm sure this one's Ok, software installed, download your bits through the web cam don't you know! High tech stuff these days.

Still working on web site for the cycling section of the DFS, something else for you to fall asleep reading.....'me' calendars updated - June - must now re-vamp my training page and some others........must dash TTFN......

Thursday May 25, 2006 8:56:

Just for the minority of drivers, the following shall apply:

The reason for speeding and having no patience = To get to the traffic jam first - congratulations you win 1st prize.

As you might have guessed the standard of driving, by the minority, has dropped again, quite funny really, one gentleman decided to 'introduce' his bumper to my pedal, while laughing, not a good idea, as his ears found out, don't think he was expecting that, please stop next time, and i'll introduce myself correctly! Anyway he went one way and I the other, only to meet @ the top of queens road, although he didn't see me, you see being impatience really does get you to your destination quicker..NOT!!..

On another note, fitted the new polar unit to the bike, now got one of each of the bikes, now to test properly...not today, blah weather outside, maybe tommorrow.........TTFN

Monday May 22, 2006 9:05:

The morning after the day before.........well the race I hear you ask, everything seemed to go OK, legs held up (see race reporting page), recovery = reasonable, not too much stiffness, going to swim out this morning, try and 'clear out' the system. Time and Details? click here (might need to push viewing up to 125% to read without straining!!).

So now here we go again. Kick start the same program (only 12wks of it, away 22nd Aug) from the beginning and just up the speed by 1kph each discipline.

Oh and on a sad note, going to 'bin' the polar power unit, reason? its f***ed up again. But on a brighter note found a bike computer thats just as good if not better......laters..........

Saturday May 20, 2006 21:27:

Final totals for the 16 week training program (running based) have now been calculated (see training page) or here, slight increase in running mileage and swimming distance......only time will tell. Must eat and drink now......report tomorrow....if all goes well.......laters................

Monday May 15, 2006 20:29:

Mark this day down in history..........The DFS Bikers is born

And so the journey begins, now only to get JCA affilated and I've got the full house. Anyway another subject, 1/2 marathon this weekend, got one more run session left, then I'll publish the mileage/time/Kcals etc before the race. On the subject of CDW (see below) it seems to be a 'goer', going to take out a years contract in August.

Tuesday May 9, 2006 21:08:

Had a little trip through the Insurance4hirecar.com site.....and it seems to be pretty good. A rough quote for worldwide use = £125.00 (year). Now if you take the CDW rate for Canada, approx $CD35.00 per day (£17.00 @ 2.00), rent for 14 days (average trip) = $CD490.00 (£245.00 @ 2.00). You don't have to have a degree in math's to work that one out ! Taking out the insurance save's you a lot of 'dosh', and you still have the rest of the year....your call.

Monday May 8, 2006 8:55:

Several things to comment on today.....going back to the UK government, What good does removing a Minister from his post, when the problem is still there? Is it me? Instead of getting rid of him/her, why not tell him/her to sort it out of then get fired, isn't the final say with the Prime Minister? The Law is an 'Ass', change the Law then - bit like 'there's a hole in my bucket '....well fix it dear Liza, fix it !!!

Next.....sent the BCF form away, here's hoping...name?....DFS Bikers, will it become real?

Raced Sunday.....result & report here.......10 mile running race if your wondering.

Thats it for now, must investigate Car Insurance...anyone travel and hire a car alot? Get hit for CDW? big style? I do, but found an article about how you ca now buy annual or single trip insurance to cover this 'rather large charge'. Will report back later ( if you want to have a peek yourself,its......www.Insurance4carhire.com )

Later's........................

Tuesday May 2, 2006 18:39:

Hey, we've got a circus on the waterfront.....does this now mean we have 2 ??????? Still working on a name for 'me' cycling team

Monday April 24, 2006 18:45:

Hot from the press...........'Time to expand the Club'.........BCF have sent me details on affiliation, now what name can I go 'under?'

DFS Penny Farthings? DFS Bikers? DFS Framers? DFS Pedallers? DFS Simply the Best? DFS Simply Easy? DFS Chill Velo?..decisions decisions....only time will tell, hehehehe.......any future members out there? the Club's motto will be the same as the main Club.

Sunday April 23, 2006 15:12:

Race Day...10 mile JCA TT...its really just an 'outing ' for me really, still building for IMC and training 'hard', in other words no real rest period yet. Result and report 'here' .

Started to update training program, think its finished..subject to change of course..several running/cycling races to have a 'crack @'. Must revamp this site aswell..doh!

Friday April 21, 2006 21:50:

Tiiiiiimmmmbbbbeeeeeerrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!! ........well that didn't take long did it! No limit on the height of the Tower blocks to be built on the Waterfront . I hope certain people use plenty of starch in their washing, as thats the only thing keeping them upright - think about it

Monday April 17, 2006 21:50:

I'm still here, if anyone was wondering. Been a little busy so things have to take a back seat. But nevermind we'll get there. Had a couple of races, quite crap really but...........be back later

Friday April 7, 2006 17:09:

Quick announcement, going to stop 'car bashing' and 'car driving', I think people are getting the idea, but not going to stop making comments on local and worldwide issues...so on that note - WE HAVE A DRUGS PROBLEM !!! - well am I glad we have spent god's know what on revamping our government to find that out, funny how a couple of years ago we had no problem? Also please note the comment ' We have to help the young with their drug problem'....What about the rest of the society? Is it only the young that bring the drugs into the Island? Don't think so? Me thinks Mr Walker is doing a bit of 'spinning' again!

Oh and on a 'foot note'...uuummmm.....some ministers have questioned Mr Walkers connection with Dandara, with the answer being 'I have no connection with Dandara', but only the other day he stated that the Island of Jersey will benefit from the 'sales' on the waterfront (by 50/50 with Danadara), Is it me or does that not mean that the Government has a connection with Dandara??

Wednesday April 5, 2006 21:37:

Well back in the world of the living, just updating training records and things. Will update you further as the week goes on, but the 2 weeks were good, the weather held out and the miles were done - all within the training program (TW's that is).

FYI distances =

1st Week

Bike - Time = 592 min / K's = 336 / Cal's = 5473

Running - Time = 108 min / K's = 23.8 / Cal's = 2253

2nd Week

Bike - Time = 1004 min / K's = 454 / Cal's = 6464

Running - Time = 173 min / K's = 36.2 / Cal's = 3593

Overall

Bike - Time = 1596 min / K's = 790 / Cal's = 11937

Running - Time = 281 min / K's = 60 / Cal's = 5846

Got some pictures, going to download, etc......later

Wednesday March 15, 2006 19:31:

Bike packed, alarm set, rain coat on. So I'm away for a couple of weeks, might as well go out with a bang, in other words a few comments on local bits and bobs. Oh before I do, tried out the Garmin with pre-loaded settings this morning. Blimey that was hard, but well worth a go, its a good workout having a watch tell you what to do! (and no I'm not going to say the next bit, thank you!).

Anyway back to the local comments:

Home Affairs Minister developing slippery shoulders again. Fun how the orginal report on the prison was back in 2001. Nothing done since then. How long has the Minister been on Home Affairs (Previously Defence Committee).Stand up for yourself, the island is on a very dangerous path with its re-deployment scheme. Its dictatorship at its highest. No discussions, no re-evaluations, just your moving to another department and that's it. So much for contracts. The St Helier Workers had the right idea, nobody likes strikes or striking, but when needs must! Beware for the reat of the year. Goodwill might just disappear, if that does then a lot of people are going to be 'hurt'.

Mind you none of this will affect the Finance Industry, so we are safe then...NOT!

The Jolly to the sands is still ongoing, no expense to the taxpayer then, the Finance Industry is picking up the tab, thats nice to know....but....didn't the industry receive a grant from the public purse? uuummmmm.....no cost to the taxpayer ???? somebody please explain that one to me.

Here we go, a committee makes a decision and a recommendation and its gets turned over by the Ministers. No real point having the committee is there?

John Boothman's comment does make sense. The politicians have let the Island down, big time!

Well I could go on, but the FA Cup replay between Bolton and West Ham has just started, so I shall have to love you and leave you, back in a couple of weeks then.....

Sunday March 12, 2006 17:08:

Race day, 1st of the season a guideline to where I am or am not. The latter is correct, whilst I acknowledge that I lack speed, it was an eye opener, but as they say 'If you start at the bottom, you can only go up' and up is a long way away! Anyho race report is on the results page or 'here' (for the lazy ones).By the way, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WEATHER? My clock said 2c.....2c max!!!! well @ least it stayed dry, apart from the brief snow shower. And just to add to my good fortune, its raining in Majorca, charming!! kick a man when he's down.

Saturday March 11, 2006 22:14:

A very pleasent week-end so far, weather wise that is. Out for a recovery ride this morning, 1.30hrs, 3 bad drivers, we are back to normal again.

1. Sion area, car just pulls out by the cementry and promptly stops to turn right 10m down the road.

2. Range Rover driver who just pulled straight out without even looking at St Johns Manor.

3. Lady with child in car, windscreen wipers going - not even raining? - overtook me by the Union Pub, whilst I was doing 55kph, and ended up right in front of me and behind several other cars who were going no where - WHY??

Changing the subject, finished the painting, not quite what I was looking for, but nearly, and no I shall not be publishing any pictures.

First Road race tomorrow, hope it doesn't rain.....me no do rain..till then.

Friday March 10, 2006 20:08:

Popped out this morning for a speed session and came across something really stupid and I mean stupid. Remember the lady who got fined for doing her make up whilst driving? Well this a.m. I beat that......Lady in car, with child in back seat, talking on the phone - in her left hand - taking a left hand bend, changed gear with her right hand - therefore nothing on the wheel, and then a right hand turn, still talking on the phone. The venue? Hougue Bie, anybody know the lady in question, does she read this page, if you do or she does....WHY OH WHY ???????? HERE USE THIS LINK........

Jersey_Telecoms Ear Piece

On another note, doing some painting in the bedroom, bit of 'damp' removal, boy that paint stinks, not for long I hope.Road Race season starts this Sunday, hope it doesn't rain, I'm in division 3 don't you know hehehehe........there is a god!

Thursday March 9, 2006 20:56:

Some disappointing news to kick off with today, No Ian Thorpe @ the Commonwealth's, bugger, now he really would have been worthwhile watching. It just goes to show you can only use certain type of 'drugs' to get over an illness. Us 'normal' people could have gotten rid of the virus in a couple of days, but with the banned list of substances including various antibiotics, bang goes his recovery time.

Monday March 6, 2006 22:15:

Got my 7 week program, boy my legs are going to suffer! Anyway takes me through Majorca and on till the end of April.

Wednesday March 1, 2006 21:23:

Well there goes another month and its snowing, well sort of snowing. Anyway not a great amount to report, on the bike front finished the winter endurance work -

Totals = 5900 k / 101453 Kcal / 13384 minutes

In depth totals (more details in other words!)

Just spoke to Tony W (Flamme Rouge) reference 7 week training program, going to get that sorted over the next couple of days, hopefully the Majorcan trip will be incorporated in the program. Now I have to learn how to 'manage' the program with the other disciplines (running/swimming), some wine required me thinks!!

Other fronts? The weekly 'Walker bashing' goes on. Deputy Southern doesn't seem to like him :( Mine you he does have a few good points. Will we or in fact he (Dep Southern) get any answers? How much truth is there in the noted comments that the States sold the La Coie site for a loss of £7 million stirling?

Saturday February 25, 2006 21:41:

Once again good news is in the air, went out for 3.45hrs this a.m. and had no problems, I'm so impressed, hopefully it won't go 't*ts up' @ a later date.

The regular 'states bashing' goes on, and I must say it seems correct, now we seem to be going on holiday together, nice little trip to the middle east (?), and just who his paying for this little 'trip'? Funny how prior to the 'elections' of ministers, some members couldn't standown and re stand for 'election' due to not being able to run their department, and fearing the department might 'fall down', they now find time to go away on a 'holiday'.....how strange, better stand by for the island to grind to a halt then!

Oh England, how could you? Scotland winning, well it was a good game, even though it was 'try less' it was good!

Wednesday February 22, 2006 15:18:

A few days since the last post, now what's happened? Well a noticeable change in traffic 'aggro', went out this a.m. only had one close call, but did have one annoying observation....TRACTOR DRIVERS !! These all singing and dancing tractors may be nice to drive, but if you are on the phone YOU ARE STILL A DANGER TO OTHER ROAD USERS !!

What happened to the Gunners last nite? very impressive, now that return game should be good. Heard though the grapevine that tonites game @ Stamford Bridge is now a Water Polo Match !! Oh its like going back to the old days, you know the one's, 'sorry mate but your dressing room heaters just failed' or the old ' let them practice on a wooly pitch and then shave it right down to the roots' trick...nice !

The States saving £500k on a new phone system and the up and coming bill's? How? thought they owned Telecoms? don't they? Internal phone calls, within a building, they used to pay for them? UUUmmmmmm...me no think so.

Saturday February 18, 2006 16:26:

Well the weather made a welcome change, meant to be lashing down, but no, pleasant sunshine and wind F5 southerly, manageable. On the roads? Well had a good start anybody out there gave good distance and width... EXCELLENT THANK YOU..... but, there's always a but, things did go a little wrong, only minor, but.....

1. The lady who overtook me just past St Mary's Pub, no indicators and then turn left down towards St Peters, again no indicators!

2. The young lady driver who overtook two cyclists at St Ouens, giving them room I might add, but, I was going the other way! hello don't forget about the other side of the road.

3. The gent who overtook, well undertook me is closer to the point! ta!

On a plus point, a nice 'older' gent on exiting near the Gym at St Lawrence let me cross in front of him, thank you. You see its not all bad.

On a observational note, and reference the above No 1 comment, how many guys out there see the 'Kids on board sticker' hammering past them on the road? Do they think that because they have the sticker it means they are in an armored vehicle and immune to anything. Just check it out next time your on the road.

On an Olympic note congrat's goes to Shelly Rudman on winning a Silver Medal in the women's skeleton event. Who in god's name want's to hurtle down a slope at 120kph, yes 120kph, on a silver tray?? Well Shelly did and how...well done

Shelly Rudman

Well Thursday was another blank day for the road, big New York winds :( .......anyway tested the new TT bike on the Turbo, seems Ok, only 60mins though.

As for today, no bikework, swim / run instead. Bad weather week-end forecasted.....DOH!....although for some reason they say Sunday is going to be calm and sunny!!!.....seeing is believing.

Wednesday February 15, 2006 16:17:

Stand by your beds, important news........no incidents on the bike this morning, mark this date in your diary!...but then again I was on a spinning bike !!! sorry.

Not wishing to be nasty, but, how about a comment on the roadwork's in St Clements. All the car drivers are moaning

1. Leave earlier

2. Get a bike :)

Sorry guys, but please you had a warning, heed the advice...........

Tuesday February 14, 2006 16:27:

Well as promised, another account on the road, which was rather nice today, thought the weather might be a bit iffy, but no very pleasant. Incidents?

1. The lady at the top of queens road right at the start of my ride....if you are going to cross my path, then please use the pedal on the far right, the accelerator.......

2. The computer van man who turned left in front of me after just overtaking me...why?

3. Minor one but all the same, if you use indicators, well done, but turn them off after use, can be a bit confusing to us 'bad cyclists'.......

Saturday 11th February:

Just for fun, and going on from thursday's post below, I have a couple of month's left on my cycle training program, so each time I go out I'll make a mental note of my 'near misses'....(if any)....this should be fun!....

1. The Jeep driver who, after I had 'slid' round the 'cafe corner', passed me at 10kph and decided to 'float' to the left hand side, without indicating, and drop anchor.

2. The lady who left the petrol station at St Mary's, who whilst looking at me just pulled out, thank you.

3. The Merc driver on St John's Rd who overtook with a gap of nothing.

Only 3 this morning, mind you I was only out for 1 3/4 hours.

And on an observational note...MOBILE PHONES WHILST DRIVING car drivers, van drivers, lorry drivers, the lady this morning driving along from Sion with a horse box attached!!...come on guys, anything from £10.00 to £60.00 for a handsfree setup. For everyone's information with reference and regard to our 'problem' on the roads, its not just a Jersey thing Drivers and Cyclists don't get on well all around the world - even Sark apparently! - anyway the advantage we have is the numbers, or lack of numbers, of cyclists and drivers. In other words we should, as responsible adults, be able to come to our senses and enjoy our roads - ALBEIT THE STATES OF OUR ROADS IS A DISGRACE!! - it only takes 20 minutes to drive from one end of the Island to the other, hardly life stopping is it!

On a slightly different note, and a sad one, Jersey lost one of its most liked cyclist's yesterday. Tony Richomme passed away after suffering 2 strokes within 24hrs, sending a shiver down a few peoples back. Not really knowing Tony I still felt it necessary to write a few words. The Jersey DFS Masters SC offers its condolences to Tony's family.

Thursday 9th February:

Well the 'Murphy's Law' saga rumbles on, now he wants to bring back the tax disc system to identify the 'bad' cyclists. Oh well whatever Mr M. Us cyclists are really bad, uuummmmm......lets just take today's little cycle, the 'near miss events' are as follows;

1. The 2 men who walked into the road, looked at a pit cover, and walked further into the road without looking....

2. The 2 drivers who both decided to reverse on a blind bend, one moving into the corner and the other moving the other way, picture it please :( ....................

3. The driver who turned out of B&Q across 2 lanes and straight into my path............

That's the average amount of 'problems' per ride.....it really is the cyclists who cause the problems!!

Sunday 5th February:

Blimey there goes a month, but where? Anyway updates, at least somebody is looking into the 'quallies while you serve' issue. Give the man a blue peter badge.

Go on Scotland!!! Sorry to the French..not!...what am I on about? Ah 6 Nations Rugby started at the weekend, England won, the Scots Won and the Paddy's came home as well, need a link? Here's one

So what else? Well we have a problem in a country parish, namely Grouville (sorry if you are from another bit of the world, home issue's - but click on the word Grouville and follow the link for info.) the problem? Club Cyclists are a pain the arse ('cuse me) and therefore will not be allowed to cycle through the parish after 0830hrs @ weekends. The Constable or the parish - Mr Dan Murphy - states that we are aggressive, rude, slow, bad mannered, although he has no evidence of this, or he is unwilling to produce any evidence.

So how does he come to this statement? Cyclists hold up 'his' traffic on weekends, I quote;

'My parishners are unable to get their morning papers!'

UUUmmmmm.......unfortunately Mr Murphy, after several minutes of interesting conversation, confuses himself, as again I quote;

'I have to put traffic calming measures in place within the parish to slow the traffic down'.....

Now how's that again?.....one minute you are saying we get in the way, and the next you are saying that you want to slow the traffic down!

Mr Murphy please get yourself together and think. As of yet the cyclists have not broken any Road Traffic Laws, the Highway Code of any other by-laws. As you might have guessed Mr Murphy is not a slim chap, nor I would guess, is he into fitness.

Monday 23rd January:

Home and away views from the last week, starting with today's little headline 'Get your quallies whilst serving a sentence in the 'pen'!! Brilliant, 'We can't do anything as the law won't let us' is the quote ......well change the law!!! We now have the situation where you can commit murder, serve your sentence and come out and buy a house! Oh well I suppose it might solve the 'over occupancy' You can see the headlines 'For sale - House with view - price, 1 murder!'

Another home one, we've got no money but the new government can blow £2000 on a jolly @ a hotel !! well what do you expect, dictatorship rules!

And just to finish on an 'away' note, poor old Sven the england manager.......so just one question - Where was the F.A. when Sven was being interviewed? Does he not have an FA advisor? Oh well when the knifes are out never walk with your back to anyone!

Monday 16th January:

Just as a foot note on the below comment on the state of our roads, I quote - 'Just 2 1/2 miles of our roads have been tarmaced over the past 2 years' - no S**T sherlock! So the question that needs to be asked = 'Just where does all the money raised by the increase in Fuel Tax go to?' Don't think we'll ever get that answered.

Oh and another brilliant piece of deduction by our politicians, If you move all the Offices down onto the waterfront site you'll leave a lot of empty office space in the main town area...Brilliant, well worth £35,000 of anyone's money!

Oh training, oh yes, saw Manu's hound today, now that is a horse thinking its a dog! Personality problems there then! Got 3 1/2 in o the bike today, only wet once..nice......

Tuesday 10th January 2006:

Tripped out for a 1.45hr bike ride this a.m. Little bit of wind - not me - in the air. One day, not sure which, somebody will get these roads in order. They are a disgrace! the number of potholes beggars belief, I just hope nobody gets seriously injured......its only a matter of time!

Monday 09th January 2006:

Well Happy New Year to everyone, hope you all got what you wanted. Still building this site, one day I'll get there! Oh gained entry into IMC06, there's the main aim of the year.

Terrible news from Wales on the death of 4 cyclists and the injuries to 8 others. It just goes to show how vulnerable with all are. If you drive a car, please take care when approaching cyclists, the highway code does state that if you do overtake a bike you must give them the same space as if you were overtaking a car! I know from various experiences that this is sometimes not the case!

Thursday 29th December 2005:

Well that was a bit chilly outside, only managed 3 hours on the bike, well far enough. Not much else to report.

Thursday 21st December 2005:

The new development on the old 'pav' site has proved, against the odd's according to some people - me not being one - to be a success. A prize winner if ever I've seen one. But, one little point that seems to have been left out is the cost of re-building the back wall, the bit by westmount. I wonder if anybody will ask this question, with the add on as to who picked up the bill. Just saying...
